DACH+ Energy Informatics Conference 2026
Date: 21 – 23 September 2026
Venue: Linz/Austria
The objective of the DACH+ conference series on Energy Informatics is to promote the research, development, and implementation of information and communication technologies in the energy domain and to foster the exchange between academia, industry, and service providers in the German-Austrian-Swiss region and its neighbouring countries (DACH+).
21 September 2026: Technical Workshops, Doctoral Workshop
22 – 23 September 2026: Main conference
Early Bird Ticket: until 31 July 2026
Industry and research are facing a monumental task: the decarbonisation and decentralisation of our energy systems. The biggest hurdle is no longer just the hardware – the real challenge lies in the software, data processing and system architecture. The energy transition is increasingly becoming a computer science project.
The conference provides the ideal platform for linking in-depth IT topics with the energy sector.
- Technological highlights: Discuss the use of artificial intelligence, machine learning, big data analytics, cybersecurity in the smart grid and decentralised control architectures.
- The transition from research to practice: A conference such as Energy Informatics offers insights into new digitalisation technologies and highlights which AI applications are already in productive use today, which are proving economically viable, and which skills companies need to develop now.
- The chance to discover talent and help shape the future: Take the opportunity to meet the industry’s most promising talent and discover new potential for your company.
- Academic depth and networking: Exchange ideas across disciplines between academia, industry and service providers in the DACH region and beyond.
- Practical technical workshops (21 September): Gain direct insight into new tools, methods and programming approaches.
Brief overview of the programme:
- Monday, 21 September: Technical workshops (practical insights, hands-on experience with tools and discussions on methodologies).
- Tuesday, 22 & Wednesday, 23 September: Main conference featuring scientific sessions on smart grids, the resilience of energy systems, sector coupling and data management.

Workshops
Various workshops will be held on 21 September 2026, with parallel sessions taking place throughout the day.
Co-located with the 15th DACH+ Conference on Energy Informatics, the 17th Doctoral Workshop Energy Informatics discusses the role of ICT and computer science in future energy systems. Several Technical Workshops are intended to offer practical insights and experience with various tools and methods, or to cultivate and debate novel ideas.

Technical Workshops
Date: 21 September 2026
Venue: Linz/Austria
Workshops are intended to offer practical insights and experience with various tools and methods, or to cultivate and debate novel ideas. We are particularly keen on proposals that promise a dynamic and interactive format, fostering active participant engagement. These sessions should deepen participants‘ understanding of particular subjects that align with the conference’s themes, covering both theoretical and practical aspects. The scope of the workshops should be in line with the main conference’s topics of interest.

Doctoral Workshop Energy Informatics
Date: 21 September 2026
Venue: Linz/Austria
The 17th Doctoral Workshop Energy Informatics discusses the role of ICT and computer science in future energy systems. The Doctoral Workshop Energy Informatics invites doctoral students whose research focuses on the intersection of informatics, energy engineering, and energy economics. This workshop presents an opportunity for doctoral students to discuss their current work – ranging from preliminary ideas to project/thesis results – with researchers from within the same community.
Europe is striving towards climate neutrality by 2050 – a vision of an economy with net-zero greenhouse gas emissions. This goal is central to European policy initiatives like the European Green Deal as well as national energy and climate goals, i.e. the Swiss Energy Strategy 2050, the Austrian Climate Plan 2040 and the German Climate Protection Act 2045. All of the above national action plans of the DACH region are aiming for climate neutrality within the time-frame 2040-50, thereby aligning with commitments to global climate action as outlined in the Paris Agreement. Pursuing a climate-neutral society presents an urgent challenge and a significant opportunity to foster a sustainable future for all. In this context, energy informatics plays a vital role in addressing the myriad challenges of the energy transition. It offers innovative solutions for the intelligent management and operation of energy systems and their assets, contributing significantly to this transnational effort.
The DACH+ conference series on Energy Informatics aims to facilitate the advancement of information and communication technologies in the energy sector. This series encourages participation from academia, industry, and service providers from the German-Austrian-Swiss (DACH) region and a wider international community. The conference provides a platform for sharing research and developments, promoting collaborations beyond the immediate neighbouring countries. We warmly welcome contributions from those globally engaged in the energy informatics field, fostering a diverse and comprehensive dialogue.
